Are you familiar with the Waste Management Obligation Act? To bring home the importance of this facility in your catering unit, I am attaching the Waste Duty of Care Act as a full stop after this article to avoid problems before various inspections.

Down with waste …

Most household waste is generated in the kitchen. Much of it consists of food and organic residues, which decompose and rot very quickly. This often results in an unpleasant smell coming from the bin. If we want to keep our kitchens clean, we have no choice but to run to the bins outside the house with our rubbish. But there is a very effective solution – a kitchen waste shredder.

What is a shredder?

This appliance belongs in a modern kitchen just as much as a fridge or microwave. The shredder helps to be environmentally friendly and helps sort garbage at the source. All the messy, wet and fast-rotting food waste is simply scooped into the sink and dropped into the shredder. The waste, ground into fine particles, goes down the drain along with the water. Of course, the shredder can also be retrofitted to older kitchens.
You will especially appreciate the convenient cooking with the possibility to immediately dispose of various scraps and leftovers of freshly processed or unusable food.
Your kitchen will be clean, free of unpleasant odours, mould, insects and spoiling rubbish in the bin.

A little bit of the law:

Everyone is obliged to dispose of or otherwise manage waste in a way that does not endanger human health or harm the environment, and in such a way as to avoid:

– risk of pollution to water, air, soil, plants and animals,

– disturbing the surroundings by noise or smell; and

– adversely affecting landscapes or places of special interest.

This law entered into force on 1 January 2013 !
